2012-2013 The Year of Change for the Goes
Starting a year ago with the birth of our first child. This has been it's own roller coaster of joys and challenges as many who have walked the path of parenthood already know, but this blog is not just another excuse for me to post darling pictures of Baby Goes that's why I Instagram, if you follow me you know. Our life changes didn't stop there. Right around the same time, Papa Goes started a new job. When accepting this job we knew he would be travelling... a lot. After the first few months, we discovered what exactly "a lot" meant when he was only home 15 days in a 3 month time span. This was extremely difficult on Papa G as he was missing the growth of Baby Goes. It was difficult on me as I was working full time (some weeks were even more than 60 hours/week) functioning like a single mother. (By the way single moms, huge shout out. I will forever be in awe of your strength and stamina, these few months of single parenthood were some of the most challenging of my life thus far and I only have one kid!)
We reevaluated our reality. Something had to give, and as we couldn't give back the baby (not that we'd ever want to!) and Papa G's job was more economically enticing, I decided to quit my dream job so we could become a business travelling family. I plan to post later on the pros and cons of quitting or how I stopped worrying and learned to love the baby puke. Look for this post in the not so distant future.
Although exciting, these changes have been daunting. Nothing in our lives is consistent any more, except each other. We are only home between 3-5 days a month. The rest of the time we are wherever Mr. G's projects take us. I'm learning how to live simply, love the quietness of staying "at-home", and how to make the most of each moment. I'm not always successful, but I hope I can at the very least, document our adventures. Follow us along the way. Hopefully I can gain and share a tip or two. If you have any, don't be stingy, pass them my way. I sure could use them.
